Subject: Why I support Locally Haiti

Dear friends and family,

As you may know, I’m a proud supporter of Locally Haiti. We invest in locally led community development in Petit Trou, our partner community of 33 years. It's been an incredibly difficult year in Haiti - but we've made real progress in our work, which focuses on education, girls' empowerment, agriculture, and health.

I hesitated to send this email, because I know we're all bombarded with appeals at this time of year. But the truth is, I see this as an opportunity, and I think you'd want to know about it. And the bigger truth is that whatever hesitation I might have about sharing this is far outweighed by the fact that our partners in Haiti are counting on me. My hesitation is a luxury they can't afford.

We're in the final phases of design, engineering, and fundraising for a new community hospital. At present there is no health facility for a population of over 36,000 people due to last year's earthquake. Over one year later, health care is still provided in tents. Together, we can change that. You can click here to see a short video and slideshow about the project, and you can reach out to me with any questions.

You've probably heard lots of negative news from Haiti recently. It's true, it's a terribly sad moment. But there's more to the story. There's a short year end video here that highlights the Haitian leaders we support and shows what they're accomplishing despite impossible odds. Also, an end of year reflection from Locally Haiti's director.

As you’ll see in the reflection, all gifts are doubled, up to $100,000 from now until the end of year. If you're in a position to consider participating with a gift, or if you have any ideas or connections to share - please know I'd be grateful. The link to give is here.

Thank you for considering this, and Happy Holidays.
