Creation Care
A Community-Based Approach to Mangrove Conservation and Climate Justice
Locally Haiti, a proud jubilee ministry of the Episcopal Church in Colorado, invests in locally led initiatives in Petit Trou de Nippes, our partner community of over 34 years. Our programs are integrated across the sectors of education, community health, girls’ empowerment, and agriculture & conservation.
According to a recent study, Haiti is the 4th most climate vulnerable nation in the world and Petit Trou de Nippes, a coastal city, is a prime example of this vulnerability. Locally Haiti funds community-driven solar projects, treeplanting, regenerative agriculture, environmental education, beekeeping, and mangrove conservation, providing a powerful example of how local leaders can confront risk, create resilient communities, and serve as front line organizers in the fight for climate justice.
